This list has been posted in class for a over a week so students should be familiar with these activities. Social Studies Fair Information

A few weeks ago, I announced to my classes that they would have the opportunity to earn 1-3 points on their 9 weeks average with the creation of a Social Studies Fair/National History Day Project. These projects ARE NOT MANDATORY and will need to be completed outside of class but I would love to provide guidance over a topic or to assist in any way that I can (students can always come see me during specials). You can find lots of documents regarding the details of the Social Studies Fair in the folder at the link below. The final projects must be submitted Monday, December 14. I will provide details on the school and county fair dates sometime soon. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thomas Paine's Common Sense- Standard 8.24

Earlier this week, we learned about Thomas Paine's inspiring pamphlet, Common Sense and The Crisis: Number 1. We analyzed excerpts from the work in class but what students did not complete should be completed outside of class. These will be extension activities and a due date will be announced at a later date.

Today in class, we worked on an extension activity where students had to design a Facebook profile for one of six Revolution-Era figures. The presentation used to explain the activity to students is attached below. This will be due next Wednesday, along with all other extension activities for this unit.

Standard 8.13- Development of Colonial Self-Government

Below you will find information about our class activities for standard 8.13. Students completed the note sheet to accompany the PowerPoint presentation on Tuesday. On Wednesday, students analyzed excerpts from several colonial documents and they were required to cite evidence from each regarding how that document influenced the concept of colonial self-government.
